From my understanding post-rationalists are a group of people who (for the most part) have a history with rationalism, and yes they are different. Some post-rationalists are former rationalists who, for one reason or another, distanced themselves from the community but still share many of its ideas/personality types. Other members of the community were never rationalists per se, but integrated well into the group.
Post-rationalist are pretty much rationalists who also add spiritual beliefs into the mix (astrology/magic/mysticism, etc). That it why it is called a rat-adjacent community.
Post-rationalists tend to be found twitting all day on Twitter.

Some of them even post on anti-rationalist subreddits, or so I've been told
My understanding is that it's people who consider themselves intellectually influenced by the rationalists, but don't identify as rationalists directly. An example would be neo-reactionaries like Moldbug or Land.
Moldbug was firmly ensconced in the local Bay Area rationalist subculture from very early on - remember that this is not just an online subculture, the real-world element is very important

Boy I hope they're using appropriate technique. Like, this started out as a fun sneer at rats and post-rats trying desperately to paper over their kinks with scientific validation, but *I'm* a short person who does dances that include weight-sharing and now I'm deeply worried about the state of everyone's joints.

rationalist wants to rationalize it first.
