Out of the loop here, and hopefully missing some context, but the

in out of nowhere? Is there any relation between Roko and “this Kathy
woman”?
If it's the Kathy I'm thinking of, she's a woman who had some prior serious mental health issues who spent a good few years in the rationalist community attempting to raise women's issues as an issue ratonalists should tackle (by doing actual research, shocker), was generally sidelined and ignored, probably ridiculed, and eventually wrote a super detailed suicide note that she made publically available explaining how the cause she believed in was made inaccessible by the people behind it and how this amongst other things gave her nothing to live for. As far as suicide notes go, it was quite rational, and I mean that in the true sense of the word.
AFAIK, the mental health issues came from abuse she experienced by men in the rationalist community. Which makes it extra ironic that they used it as a reason to dismiss her reports of abuse.
I believe this is both true *and* she had issues before engaging in LW. She led a very lonely life up until that point from what I know. Like so many other occasions, LW is very good at sucking in a vulnerable person and making all their problems so much worse.
Yeah but I mean, doesn’t almost everyone have some issues that would benefit from therapy? They pride themselves in not being neurotypical and being welcoming to weird people. But when then a not-neurotypical person reports abuse, then all of a sudden seeing a therapist is used to discredit them.
I judge him guilty in the court of my own opinion. partly because there is quite a lot of other admittedly circumstantial evidence of him being a weirdo. and, I don't like him.
