Sounds like the very-old, antiquated usage of the term "awesome", which is much closer to what we now call "awful".
Has all the usual checkmarks of alt-right power fantasy. Worldwide collapse, check. Magical Galt's Gulch, check. Dreams of avarice, check. Magic robot-god daddy figure, check.
