Dark Lord’s Answer by Eliezer Yudkowsky (2016) - an economics polemic, but with an S&M slave girl as the author mouthpiece (https://reddragdiva.tumblr.com/post/174270083738/dark-lords-answer-by-eliezer-yudkowsky-2016)

That's high-quality shade. I'm sure Yud would want either a five or a one.

I’m literally a card-carrying member of a BDSM club and I find Yud’s shoehorning of it into everything pretty creepy.

[Yep.](https://thehardtimes.net/culture/local-creep-enthusiastically-sex-positive/)
I was reading something, forget what, probably a Hefner obit, about how 1960s sexual liberation degenerated into an excuse for dudes to be kinda rapey and build sex cults. This is like the aftershock of that decades later.

>There was madness in any direction, at any hour. If not across the Bay, then up the Golden Gate or down 101 to Los Altos or La Honda. . . . You could strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning. . . . >And that, I think, was the handle—that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn’t need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting—on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. . . . >So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark—that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.

Can people stop shoehorning it into things like it's a substitute for being left-leaning on sexual politics?
So yesterday I wrote a book intro and posted it to my facebook. I also wrote 1100 words of a chapter on Torture vs Dust Specks and EY's disconcerting propensity for torture in his thought experiments. A cultist who was still on my list showed up and started furiously defending *Dark Lord's Answer*, because of course he did. Normal people on the post asked if the book would all be like this, because as much as they may like me, if it was they wouldn't want to read it. So I'm faced with how to write this up without repelling perfectly reasonable people who won't want to read about these arseholes in any manner. It'll be a tricky one.

Oh my.
