Why does Scott still think calling Trump racist is "crying wolf"? Because eugenicists are the ones shaping Trumpian policy.... (https://splinternews.com/the-eugenicist-doctor-and-the-vast-fortune-behind-trump-1827322435?rev=1530808928745)

The administration’s deep into that Pioneer/FAIR/etc. dark money orbit.

Oh OK, I got confused because I searched it and [this guy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Zane_Pilzer) came up, who has nothing to do with anything.
**Paul Zane Pilzer** Paul Zane Pilzer (born January 17, 1954) is an American economist, New York Times best-selling author, and social entrepreneur. He has written 11 books and is the founder of six companies, and has been profiled in more than 100 publications including on the front page of The Wall Street Journal. *** ^[ [^PM](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=kittens_from_space) ^| [^Exclude ^me](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiTextBot&message=Excludeme&subject=Excludeme) ^| [^Exclude ^from ^subreddit](https://np.reddit.com/r/SneerClub/about/banned) ^| [^FAQ ^/ ^Information](https://np.reddit.com/r/WikiTextBot/wiki/index) ^| [^Source](https://github.com/kittenswolf/WikiTextBot) ^] ^Downvote ^to ^remove ^| ^v0.28

Well, I can agree it’s crying wolf on the verb is, to continue stating the patent evident no-shit obvious /s

It is kinda funny that he misunderstands the parable. That is whole piece is that Trump *is* as racist as most other racists. So it *does not* make it a lie to say Trump is racist. Rather than the village being put off by the mischievous little boy who "cried wolf," it's that the republican party is a pack of wolves and the little boy runs back to town to discover that it's populated by wolves. And Scott is a beta wolf. lol

…ipso facto, to admit that the Trump administation is racist would require Scott Alexander and his kind to admit that they are racists too. Which they will always insist that they technically can’t be racist.

This is a somewhat serious post, apropos to apparent hubub at SSC due to “You Are Still Crying Wolf” from Nov 16th, 2016. There are a few gems in the new preface to this piece:

…[Trump] has continued to deny overt racism without any particular evidence that his denials are false….

…The other event that led to me getting lots of hate mail was the Charlottesville protests. Again, the fact that a pan-alt-right gathering attracted a few hundred people matches my claim that there are probably only a few thousand white supremacists in the US….

…Overall I continue to believe Trump is a terrible president, but also not “an overt white supremacist” by any reasonable definition. I think the Democrats have done a good job focusing on Trump’s other bad qualities and have mostly stopped centering their criticism around bumbling attempts to link him to the KKK or to neo-Nazis – and I no longer am particularly upset with how they’re handling this matter. That makes this post of historical interest only.

Also, by some sort of wordpress mistake, the whole body of the blog post is now italicized. How weird.

BTW, did we ever talk about this piece in its original form? It’s pretty bumbling, I think.

EDIT: oh yeah, now I remember making fun of this post. He ends it concern trolling about how discussing Trump’s overt calls for more racism and violence is making the subjects of those calls suicidal. Seriously, if this was 200 years ago, Scott would be saying that all this “abolitionist agitation is inducing drapetomania in my slaves!”

Or because he likes to define ‘racist’ in such a way that very few people in the US are racist. Thus the problems of minorities are the fault of the minorities, not the fault of racism.

can't it be both?
