On Russia opening fire on Ukrainian navy ships: "The Ukrainian president is facing a tough reelection and has created an incident to strengthen his position. He is using the incident to establish martial law, a measure aimed foremost at his internal opposition rather than Russia." Did you mean to quote the second part of the post? This is pretty much conventional analysis of the situation. The president of Ukraine is enjoying an approval rating of 9% with new elections in March… except that martial law is in effect as of today and that can be put off indefinitely.

Also none of this is about boring nerds using economics to improve dating or bong rotations so wtf overall

The key part is saying he *created* the incident, as in the Ukraine was the aggressor. Maybe the parroting of kremlin talking points would have been better illustrated by quoting the second part or quoting [that users next comment](https://old.reddit.com/r/slatestarcodex/comments/a0gedy/culture_war_roundup_for_the_week_of_november_26/eai8aty/). I think falling for blatant propaganda is sneer-worthy.
I don't envy anyone who feels compelled to combine rationality with Trump worship.
