And speaking from experience, having a thread be linked from sneerclub causes *downvotes* on the white nationalists. My theory is that the long-time sneerers abstain from voting, but the silent vaguely-leftwing lurker SSCians all downvote the linked racist comment, and they don't even view themselves as brigading because they are native to SSC.

I've never in my life advocated white nationalism though. It's kind of ridiculous to cherry pick a few bad apples and paint us all as racists. I agree those were bad takes but most of what we do is reasonable.

Sneer Club makes fun of a lot of other common "Rationalist" traits such as sexism/incel, AI apocalypse, libertarianism, bad fanfic, SV tech worship, and general political/philosophical naïveté. I'm sure people can come up with other things that are mocked here. Even if there were no white nationalists on rSSC there would be plenty more to make fun of. Racism is just one aspect, that yes, seems to be rearing its ugly head more often these days.

Also, your methodology has a few issues. The primary one is that comments replying to the Nazi OP are more likely comments arguing against him, so are biased against nazism. You should include the replies-to-replies, which have things like [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/slatestarcodex/comments/a2lipn/culture_war_roundup_for_the_week_of_december_03/ebbws4a/) at +43 defending the murderer, and also [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/slatestarcodex/comments/a2lipn/culture_war_roundup_for_the_week_of_december_03/ebbp1t0/) which was given reddit gold for its defense of the murderer.
The secondary issue is that comment scores become biased when the thread is linked from sneerclub. My theory is that there are a bunch of left-leaning not-quite-sneerers that lurk on sneerclub but spend most of their time on SSC; when they see a linked subthread, they don't feel bad voting/participating since SSC is their usual home. But this still biases the vote counts because many would never have seen the thread without the sneerclub link.
So yeah, we really did get the rationalists with this one - or at least, the ones who spend their time on /r/slatestarcodex. Not that this is such an impressive feat, mind you - the SSC subreddit also defended the murderer right after the Charlottesville attack happened, and posted several highly-upvoted doctored videos from alt-right websites purporting to show the car did not accelerate until after it was struck by a bat. It was pretty obvious to anyone paying attention that this is the way the subreddit leans. I don't know why you're emotionally committed to defending them.
