“As we say in Germany, if there’s a Nazi at the table and 10 other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with 11 Nazis.” - Dr. Jens Foell

if you say so, but regardless, the sentiment is correct

Ah, I used to frequent a shithole bar where they did not follow this rule. One of the Nazi idiots looked for some trouble with the bouncer who was not amused and immediately banned all Nazis from the bar. Did not hurt their income at all.

I would not count the antifa activists in that bar as tolerant left

I know, but I think it all goes to say we could all get along but Nazis suck, so no Nazis plz

The best part is when they spend the whole time complaining about leftist entryism changing the tone of the community.

I don’t think that’s actually true though (that being why the rationalists ended up like this). If you look at /r/TheMotte, they’re 100% on board with kicking out “entryists” who they think are prompting SJW-ism. They’ve got no issue with “your goals are unacceptable, get out”. They just think the goals of the racist neofacists are fine, and the goals of people who think that we should respect minorities are bad.

I never take "charitability", "steel manning" and "free discussion" at face value. Everyone has an agenda and doesn't \*really\* want to deal with any argument that might actually invalidate theirs, even if they outwardly seem to welcome the other side. How many times have rationalist steel manned actual socialists, or someone they would call an "SJW"?
Agreed, hence the scare quotes around "ended up."

If you didnt want your beer hall to fill up with nazis you should have thrown them out, Mr Göring.

I’m still pissed about this Bizarro nightmare where people think punk rock is compatible with Nazism. Say what you will about Green Day, they were clear enough on messaging that none of their fans ever made this mistake.

This makes a lot of sense if you've never listened to Minor Threat.
