[WAP?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wc5IbN4xw70) (lol, holy this it was actually about that song, I thought it was a weird new rationalist insider term I had missed (im keeping this post up so everybody can point at me and laugh).
Are we just going to ignore that stuff like [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch/lbnoG2dsUk0) from 1997 exists? I can't believe we are doing the 'music is corrupting the kids' thing in 2021 all over again.
Remember when we had, [this shit?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnbOhSGVbRg) (CW: nsfw cradle of filth clip (if you don't know the band, let the name be a warning)).
The main sample from WAP is from this old song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IHUl8CwCvI
I used to listen to a lot of ghetto-tech and stuff like that.

Oh, [they remember](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheMotte/comments/lk8abe/culture_war_roundup_for_the_week_of_february_15/gnohh3l?context=2), but this is worse because it's "a continual slide to mainstream extremism", or something. Or maybe it's not worse, but it's "an interesting conversation to have"... hmm.
Lol, they even brought up that example. But doesn't change that the vulgar Ginuwine - Pony song was in the top ten list for a while. So the whole 'it is getting more mainstream' is silly, it is all based on feelings, and getting to be boring old farts.
E: An example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Me_So_Horny 1989.
Anyway, themotteheads going from 'you are no longer allowed to say anything anymore' to 'these words prove we are living though the 800 year downfall of rome!' is giving me whiplash. (Not that it is hypocritical of course, the worldview fits perfectly, if you believe that a shadowy group of elites is workign together to destroy a certain type of people who happen to share a certain skin color that absorbs vitamin D better).
Oh my god, the person complaining about the geico “clogging problem”
commercial and interpreting it as some kind of racialized attack on
white people is amazing
Why did the producers want them shown as repugnantly homogenous,
eating stereotyped boring food (hur hur white people eat plain
spaghetti), in evil-cast lighting?
Um, maybe because of the implication that a family that
constantly wordlessly dances in sync without music would do
other things in creepily boring ways too? That’s pretty obviously the
joke, it’s not at the expense of white people. Hey themotte, why do you
have to bring race into everything, huh? Maybe try having a little
charity towards the people who made the commercial.
Of course, I’m a high decoupler, you know, so I can view
this commercial without injecting my weird racial worldview into it, but
I recognize that may be difficult for people who just aren’t as
intelligent as me.
Nobody asks what he means with this. Odd. And as this is the ‘no need
for steelmanning racists’ zone, im just going to assume they are talking
about machinegunning refugees/brown people at the borders.
And yes the mod literally does a ‘ah you say this is racist, but what
about this hypothetical argument I made up in my head involving the
nazis saying what you are saying, that makes you the racist then’.
it was in reply to a comment basically saying "i'm scared African migrants will herald a return to 1930s style militant ethnonationalism in their host countries" so yeah you weren't far off
As other poster has said before…. These things are inflammatory
because activists invested major effort to pour vast amounts of gasoline
on them, telling people what they should be offended at. We chose to be
censored by people who chose to be offended.
Well, you see, racists are a historically disadvantaged intellectual
group, so in order to correct for structural inequities, we have to give
them a safe space where they can just be themselves and say whatever
they want without fear of challenge. On the other hand, anti-racists
need to be scrutinized and called out for any conceivable cognitive
biases, logical fallacies, or, worst of all, lack of charity in their
arguments. That’s just what it means to be an intellectual and rational
community dedicated to the illumination of the truth.
Wow, this thread was extremely painful to read. When you get to the
point of defending literal Nazis maybe it’s time to question whether
you’re doing something wrong.

So in case you weren’t clear on where the_motte stands,

Wow. What a piece of shit. As a matter of fact, there are a whole lot of words in that thread that boil down to “I’m a piece of shit.”

You guys ever read one of these threads and suddenly have the urge to shove a kitchen knife through your throat?
