Courses are taught by members of the community, and anyone can apply
to lead a course. Because of this peer-led structure, we often teach
non-traditional topics such as Fashion 101, Character Sheet, or
How to Spot a Con.
Pretty bad, according to their own retrospective analysis:
“It was suggested that a professional fashion expert be paid to give feedback at specific junctures to avoid groupthink and also enhance perceived credibility.”
They considered getting an expert, that isn't bad. Of course this does bring up the problem, with zero knowledge of a field how do you determine if somebody is an expert or just saying they are.
[Professional fashion experts](http://www.artdeseduire.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Peacocking.jpg) (im joking here obv, but this is a bit of a failure mode, esp for very nerdy people (which looking at the profile pics they are), and don't take me the wrong way, as they seem pretty honest I hope for them they work it all out (and ditch the weird cult shit), website doesn't look that bad tbh. (Of course, without looking at the courses, I can't judge them at all, it could just be the whole pua scam but reworked for 2021 (~~Not sure if using 'Cialdini’s book Influence' for 'how to spot a con' is a good choice for example~~ nevermind, it doesn't seem totally bad, I was thinking of a different book. Even if Cialdini himself looks like [a religious con artist](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Cialdini#/media/File:RCialdini.jpg)))
My name is Alex, but you can call me whatever you’d like. People have
called me “a wizard trying to look like a muggle”, “a rationalist
shaman”, “transhumanist scum”, and many others.
.
My name is Raven, and I am myriad: rationalist, revenant, artist. In
my role as Community Manager, I mediate conflicts, onboard new members,
and shape the future of the Guild. My ultimate goal is to create a
garden of community that balances truth with niceness, pragmatism with
idealism, and clarity with validity.
.
I have worn many metaphorical and literal hats throughout my life:
radio DJ, actor, political activist, drug dealer, martial artist, pizza
maker, bank teller, physics tutor, wizard, and real estate agent.
Most of them are just a bit dorky (know your audience). But wow somebody really went with Raven. That is like a [pseudonym of 50% of all 90s goth people](https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6v-qjrdf9VY/XEN3eTD6vmI/AAAAAAAAAYM/OJNnGAWfNrMufVl_4qPeOaeW19CJ2PgxQCLcBGAs/s1600/%2522Raven%2522.jpg).
And good for them for not making it mega expensive, or that they force you to live with them. As far as these things go, this seems the best so far.
*waits for the [milkshake duck](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milkshake_Duck)*
But does that mean they actually like Ziz's ideas or are they jokingly defining themselves using a term of disparagement by Ziz, kind of like the other bio with "transhumanist scum"? Or maybe they just like to imagine themselves as a vampire or something
You should obv never trust anybody who picks a disparaging nickname for themselves ;).
But yes, guess not a milkshake duck yet, but a milkshakeduckwhistle.
I actually met with the guy Alex a week or two ago at book club meet
for a few hours. He was pretty well informed and had a passion for
teaching his philosophy. He told me he eventually wants to turn it into
a nation wide kinda thing and be able to hire professionals in their
fields for courses. He told me they try to make the classes as
affordable as possible and if you need help you can just tell them your
situation.
“Lesson One: You’ve Already Failed at Least Once”
.
.
Can’t decide which character here is my favourite
“y’all with the cult?”
I hope this doesn’t become JP2.0 with disastrous results for both the viewers and the … folks themsselves
