Scott discovers the problem of self-knowledge! A novel philosophical problem untouched by academia and philosophy (https://astralcodexten.substack.com/p/can-people-be-honestly-wrong-about)

This is peak LessWrong in my eyes: pose a philosophical question with decades of analysis and argument behind it and treat it as a novel question. It’s like Sam Harris proposing that he’s solved morality with brain scans.

This is why I find Scott's little thought experiments so vapid. He evidently spends the lesser part of a week examining any particular subject and then just shits out some half-formed summary of his investigations. An essay concerning the question of the reliability of self reported, subjective, human experience and he musters up a grand total of one actual source that could be considered qualified (as far as I could tell from cursory google searches) and from that source two links to tweets, fucking tweets for fucks sake. Quite the academic rigour Scott, you dime store sophist, at least real shim-sham men have the decency to act like they believe their own bullshit. I think we may be charting the declining days of Scott here. He used to put so much more effort into his nonsense but now he can't even be bothered to pretend he did the reading.
It’s been fun watching Scott and the rest discover the age old academic tradition of ignoring every other department and researcher while desperately clinging to insistence of their own relevance.

It is poetic, like an Ouroboros, made out of literal crap.
Snake eating its own tail forever ✋ Snake ramming its head up its own ass forever 👍
It's almost recursive in its inanity.
Agree 1000%. It’s incredible.

TIL that very reasonable (I thought) law scholar James Grimmelmann posts comments on Scott’s blog, widely known for its reasonableness and nothing to do with fascism-ness

My favorite tidbit is just the phrase “retroactively remember”. It’s like Mitch Hedberg’s line “here’s a picture of me when I was younger.”

lol at people in r/ssc analyzing the DMT tweet. Nerd sniping at it’s best.
