    i dislike how much “it was all courtney’s fault” has remained in the cultural zeitgheist. it feels like a misogynistic narrative that should have died off a long time ago

      It really is misogynistic, and I had second thoughts as soon as I wrote it. But I struggle to resist a setup like that at the best of times, and I thought it would be clear this was not my sincere opinion. Genuine thanks for standing up to misogyny when you see it; if more people did that it’d be a better world.

        for sure i get it. i tried my best to in my comment say i held the world at large responsible and not you. as a set up and punchline, i think you actually did a really good job, and i didn’t want to tear that down. but it’s been nearly 30 years. there are college students who know Courtney Love from the meme of “she ruined nirvana” more than they know Kurt Cobaine’s stance on feminism, how Courtney Love organized one of the first major suicide outbreak prevention events, or how actually dope her band Hole’s music is.
