My nephew immediately uploaded his newborn into one to remove watermarks from the hospital’s $400 (?!) paid digital photo package.

      🤦

You can do this locally so fucking easily assuming you have a video card that isn’t complete shit.

And most people are not computer technical and have no idea how to do anything like that.

And also most don’t have decent video cards, so even if they learn, they can’t do it.

I’m a computer professional, I run an it company where I build from scratch, entire networks, I install 250k dollar Cisco equipment. The only pc I own is a small 11 inch windows 11 laptop that I keep in my backpack for work. I prefer getting on my x box and switch, I have a nice phone and excellent tablet for browsing and videos, I can use gimp decently, but I just prefer being off my pc at home. So even since of us that know how to do this, don’t care enough to, haha.

I think there might be an inkling of a possibility that this person took the action deliberately, knowing some exciting things would happen to their images that they could then write a better article about.

(It doesn’t mean it is not a real problem of course.)

If you appear on any video you can now claim it’s an AI or deep fake, and you never did that thing on the video.
