Using a fairphone with a linux mobile distro would receive limited connectivity moreso than android and it would be difficult to receive official support from the brand. I suppose I will have to wait for the future market expansion.

It depends with on the carrier. When I bought my nothing couple months back, I risked it because I didn’t know if it will work with freedom Mobile. It fianl worked.

It’s the bands you are looking for in a phone. For example, here in Greece, a Xiaomi phone works like a charm, but If you take in Canada or USA, it won’t work, and if it works you may be missing features like volte, 5g, WiFi calls etc.
