    It’s crazy to me that there are still bears in Japan after thousands of years of human habitation, especially on the main island. I guess there was enough areas that weren’t useful for human habitation.

      considering that japan is a very mountainous country it’s not very surprising, almost everyone there lives in cities (92% urbanisation rate)
