20·10 months agoTheoretically an ISP can block all outgoing queries to the DNS port 53 except to whitelisted servers, but now DNS over HTTPS exists, haven’t looked into how blockable that one is.

Anime@ani.social•Turkey! Time to Strike • Turkey! - Episode 4 discussionEnglish
3·10 months agoI’m surprised the other girls went along with Mai (she was the one holding the ball, yes, but the others didn’t look angry or even annoyed). Well, next thunderstorm please.
Another time traveller mentioned. He was a travelling entertainer as well (haha) and was the cause of Anju’s hate of such. Stop doing that, it is hard to get all those grains of salt out of the tatamis.

Programming@programming.dev•Can't decide if end user index access should be 0 or 1 based and if END index should be inclusiveEnglish
2·11 months agoI know some programming languages use : for ranges and it is more legible if you support negative indices, but I think START-END is more natural reading and I’d use : for START:COUNT instead, e.g. 3:4 for 4 elements starting from 3, so elements 3,4,5,6 or 3-6.
You can even support both formats! (Feature creep warning)

World News@lemmy.world•Japan PM Ishiba to announce resignation next month, Mainichi saysEnglish
1·11 months agoThey all do that, even those who intend to resign deny it until the day it happens.
Ishiba doesn’t have any big scandals currently, so I see less public outrage directed at him in the news and it feels more like infighting within the LDP (just my impression). Of course losing so many seats in the election is a cause for resignation but I’m not sure anybody who replaces him will be able to quell the public’s discontent either.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Nintendo can disable your Switch 2 for piracy in the U.S., but not in Europe, as confirmed by its EULAEnglish
55·11 months agoAnd Nintendo JP says that “Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 cannot be remotely located, their users remotely identified nor disabled over the Internet” (tweet in Japanese warning people against accidentally losing or getting their consoles stolen over summer vacation)

But I bet it is more like “Nintendo won’t disable them remotely even if people report ones stolen to them with serial numbers and police reports”, but they’ll happily do so if they caught you using the console in an unapproved manner in their eyes.

Anime@ani.social•Private Tutor to the Duke's Daughter • Koujo Denka no Katei Kyoushi - Episode 4 discussionEnglish
3·11 months agoDuke put on glasses and nobody recognized him. It’s anime magic!
Poor ceiling-kun, even a barrier could not protect it and it’s got the biggest damage seen so far.
Was Allen’s job finished? Was he leaving just to go back to the capital (which just happened to be where the girls were going) or was he still going to be their teacher?
Trusting of the duke to let Allen travel with his daughter by themselves, though he did warn him of consequences if Allen lays a hand on her.
Surprised Lydia didn’t show up.

Anime@ani.social•Private Tutor to the Duke's Daughter • Koujo Denka no Katei Kyoushi - Episode 3 discussionEnglish
1·11 months agoIt took long enough, Tina finally was able to cast spells, but we still didn’t know why it happened yet. The duke knew something but he wasn’t telling.
Was Tina only able to cast ice spells even when she was told to try other kinds, or was she just stubborn?
That poor ceiling, they gave up on fixing it up properly since Tina would break it again.
If the duke didn’t want his daughter to go to Royal Academy, why did he brought in the protagonist (to the point of going around his back and f**king up his court sorcerer exam which is heavily implied) in the first place? It feels good to have Allen tell the duke off in this episode (even if insulting a noble might cost him a lot).
Lydia’s gone incommunicado and my bet is that she’ll show up in person soon.
