Somewhere between zero and 16. There is no “usually” for me.

Buy European@feddit.uk•What are your recent buy european wins?English
2·2 days agoI do, but the company is based in Paris as far as I know, so it’s European. At least most employees are (probably?) around there, as are the paid taxes (assuming they pay any).
Given my experiences, I don’t think I have any other option that wouldn’t be just a way worse experience for me. There’s a reason in dropping Spotify after all.

5·4 days agoI also gave it a try, but had to cancel my plans to switch due to limited music selection and playlists lacking folders.
I am currently trialing Deezer, so I guess that still counts. Also can’t do folders for playlists, but basically all my music transferred over.
There’s also a dedicated recipe in “bottles”, which I think is based on it at least in part. As I’m trying to move away from fusion, I haven’t tried it yet though. Apparently it can work, but can also randomly break with updates…
There’s also In shape, which has it’s down sides (some go away with money), but also runs anywhere bring browser based. One of the more obvious down sides is that it’s by definition cloud based.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Debian with NVIDIA on a laptop that had been sitting in the closet for years
3·8 days agoThere has been a lot of advances even with Nvidia in recent years. Assuming the GPU in the laptop is semi-modern (not sure if it’s 10xx or 20xx and newer, but one of those), you should be able to just install any modern distro and it should just work. This is especially true for gaming focused distros (like CachyOS), which doesn’t have to be used for gaming btw. They will auto-detect just fine in the installer and there is zero effort or tinkering required.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Why are you crying, Windows user?
10·11 days agoI bought 48 GB DDR5 for my laptop back in September, just before the prices ignited their rocket engines. I paid 120€ I think. Prices now are like 500(ish). Truly insane.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there a device that allows one to manage "scenes" with multiple monitors and multiple devices?
1·12 days agoThere are KVM switches that allow something closer to that at least, but usually only for 2 hosts (pcs). It stands for “keyboard, video, mouse” and they originated in the server space, but recently became common in the home/office as well.
They main purpose is to switch use of the monitors and any attached input devices between PCs. But there are models that allow mixed/shared use as well. If you’re looking for one that supports 3 monitors and 3 hosts, with some splitting options, that might be harder to find or cost as rather pretty premium (hundreds).

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there still anyway to bypass Youtube "Sign in to confirm your age" bullshit in 2026?
12·16 days agoYes, and all the download sites and tools don’t use anything else either. They all just wrap yt-dlp.
If it stopped working for you, you might have to read the docs on the specific error you’re getting to see how to get around it. YouTube does try to make it harder, but it’s technologically difficult to fully block. There are workarounds for basically every case as far as I’m aware.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there still anyway to bypass Youtube "Sign in to confirm your age" bullshit in 2026?
8·16 days agoJust using yt-dlp also works, but locally.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Lutris dev says he's cool with AI generated bugs because his code is already full of bugsEnglish
1·20 days agoLutris is like heroic or steam: it’s essentially the downloader and launcher for games that are then run by proton.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•out of the loop, what's the problem with signal?
12·21 days agoYou can’t have it both ways. It’s hard enough to get people to switch to signal, or least also use it next to other messengers. Now imagine they’d have to connect to multiple servers to talk to multiple people. Possibly everyone connection details. Even if that’s done in the background, you have to somehow get the connection registered once, discovered if you will.
Anything and everything you send through their server is end-to-end encrypted. Some people hate on the phone number being required to create an account, but it’s also the reason it works at all: anyone in your contacts who also has signal you can talk to. Phone numbers are an international standard. If course this also has downsides…
Finally what you’re asking for exists. NextCloud has “talk”. Which is essentially a messenger app, it’s built in. Go use it. I have a NextCloud instance and I don’t use it either. What’s the point of having an app I can only use to talk with people so close to me that they’re in my NextCloud with an account already?

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Password manager woes. How have you solved syncing on Android?English
10·26 days agoIf you’re using a keepass database, Keepass2Android can natively sync with many cloud options including self hosted and generic ones, even without specific “companion” apps. That’s what I use. In my case, it’s backed by my NextCloud, but it used to be Google drive before.
Just also sync the file on your PC, merging changes from different clients is part of the keepass database format and “just works”.
Also VaultWarden works great if your can self host it, but I prefer keepass for a variety of features and integrations.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Firefox's beta feature "Smart Window" shared browsing and search history to AI models without prompting
20·28 days agoFrom my understanding if you’ve toggled the global “AI kill switch” in the options, this will cover it as well?
That being said, the writing’s been on the wall for a while. Probably LibreWolf for me.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Considering self hosting my own git repositories. What are some options?English
19·1 month agoForgejo was soft forked from Gitea after they went commercial and changed the license (I think). If there aren’t any so far, expect pay walled features eventually.
Forgejo turned into a hard fork after communication issues between the teams. I haven’t looked too deeply into it (as I don’t really care about the fact that it’s a hard fork now). This means while it used to be a drop-in replacement allowing you to go back and forth between the two, it’s now an active conversion, I think.

Firefox@lemmy.world•Hey @mozilla ... WHY did you removed 'Share All Tabs' from latest mobile version?
1·1 month agoI also have 148.0.1. I think I’ve understand the difference. I’m not trying to select any tabs at all. I just open the menu and select “share all tabs”, which is exactly what you’re saying you’re missing in your OP though?
In case that is relevant, I’m on Android version 15. Since your screen looks quite a bit different from mine.

Firefox@lemmy.world•Hey @mozilla ... WHY did you removed 'Share All Tabs' from latest mobile version?
2·1 month agoNo because that’s not how Android works. If the app is updated, it is also closed and from that point on you’ll have the new version. If you’re using it while it is updating in the background, it’ll literally just disappear.
But i did check in the store to make sure it’s updated. I also manually force closed it just to convince you. Option is still there.
To be clear it’s in the tab overview, where you see all your open tabs. For me there’s the ‘…’ menu in the top right, and it’s in there, as it always has been. But it looks different from your screenshot, I dunno where that was taken.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Is it a good idea to change my system timezone to UTC+0 for additional privacy?
6·1 month agoI’m reasonably sure there’s an option in librewolf that will hide your timezone and just report it as +0, independent from what you actually use is the os.
It has a lot of fingerprint hardening either enabled by default or available as an option.

Doable, not practical. Another major concern is the induced dizziness and general discomfort from such a small circumference. If you stand up straight, your head moves significantly slower than your feet. There are more effects that humans don’t do well with.
In addition keep in mind that this implies significant mechanical complexity the moment you don’t rotate the whole craft, but only a section or ring. If you do rotate all of it, simple tasks like taking a photo become… cumbersome.
Also like others have said, it’s not a permanent residence for anyone, and the main goal of the ISS is the study of low- or micro-gravity.
