Between this and his name being on the Institute of Peace… We’ve completely abandoned reality for this pedo’s ego. I’m genuinely ashamed to be an American at this point. I never knew I could feel this way about my country. I’ve never even given a shit about my identity within and towards my country prior to Trump, but he has truly made me ashamed of my citizenship.

Furthermore, I’m ashamed of the people I cohabit the Earth with. I just couldn’t fathom this world even 10 years ago. Maybe I was naive, but maybe the world’s gone crazy.

I got two weeks of uni left and afterwards, I’m thinking its time to take the plunge again. I haven’t used linux since I threw ubuntu lite or some shit on a cheap netbook 15 years ago. I remember it working pretty well and not having any major issues out of the box.

Then again, it’s not like I have any trouble with Windows now. My install is almost perfect for me with everything extraneous ripped out. However, it’s more of a moral/philosophical choice at this point to support FOSS and to claw back some of my digital privacy. I wish I could find a way to easily see what software I use will work directly and what I’ll need to find replacements for.

While I concede it’s not only possible, but in fact, likely that many people are unaware of the 10 volume set of War and Peace size novels which recount the history of conflict in the Middle East, I find it incredibly out-of-touch that she can’t understand that the starving and murder of an entire ethnic group is considered abhorrent by a large amount of the youth.

We don’t need to know every facet to know genocide when we see it. I’m so tired of the constant Israel propaganda here in the states. You’d think they were the superpower and we were completely beholden to them in every way with the amount of kowtowing our politicians do. It’s insane.

Nobody was talking about using tools to arrive at objective answers. Math, at least at the lower levels, doesn’t require creativity. Writing is something wholly different. When you are outsourcing your writing it no longer says anything about you. It’s creatively bankrupt.

I’m not wholly opposed to AI. I realize its an inevitability. But at least in this case, especially for writing, you’re only cheating yourself. So yeah, I think it is embarrassing to outsource that type of work.

Fucking goddamn bullshit

The only problem I have with the whole “Don’t be afraid to fail” thing, is that so much rides on the grades a student receives it makes it very difficult to not treat every assignment as a highly critical task which must be as close to perfect as possible. I totally agree with this professor and I believe he did the right thing by the students. The problem is the system itself.

Those who are going to outsource their work are likely to always outsource their work or take the path of least resistance. You can’t moral lesson or embarrass that away, usually. But the rest of the class seems to have learned a valuable lesson, or at least learned how to cheat better.

Regardless, we need to stop having everything boil down to the grades. There’s good reasons grades are important, but there are even more that are detrimental. I don’t know the answer, I just know the system is broken. Maybe it’s just capitalism that’s broken.

The ONLY money I spent during my entire time at uni has been on these stupid Cengage and Connect courses. I blame the teachers, more than anyone, for using these awful services. I also blame the Uni for not advertising that it would be required for the coursework. The teachers are either too lazy or too overworked to make their own materials or teach from an analogue book which doesn’t spoon-feed the lessons and grade things for them. It’s a shit system and nothing made me madder than a required class using these services.

Agreed, but lets be real, none of them would ever set foot in a publicly available health institution. All high-end private care for the rich while we get to pay out the nose for band-aids and autism tablets.

Sounds like a win by default for the plaintiffs, if I were the judge. Somehow, I doubt it will go that way or that easily, but in a sane or just world, any destruction of evidence, whether purposefully or by negligence (by not having the information backed up in duplicate), is a straight-up tacit admission of guilt.

Same. No way I could let that slide. I’m almost more upset that no one else in that room had the dignity to stand up on her behalf. At a certain point, the job can get fucked in favor of principals. There’s some things you don’t compromise on or justify your way out of.

It’s right around the time that you realize your parents were just doing the best they could and didn’t know how to “adult” either that you start to understand that you’re destined to do the same thing. We’re all just making it up as we go and hoping to do better than the previous generation. Generation after generation built upon the knowledge of iteration.

So yeah, mentally, I don’t feel significantly different than I have at any other time in the past twenty years, aside from knowledge and experience, but I also realize that I’m viewed significantly different by others, so you kind of have to act the part and fake it till you make it.
