News@lemmy.world•Former US Attorney General Pam Bondi diagnosed with cancerEnglish
82·16 天前Cancer sucks. I don’t wish cancer on anybody…
…but karma’s a bitch, ain’t it? Also, don’t let this stop us from prosecuting her for her crimes.

Kriss Kyle did BMX bike tricks in a tiny skatepark under a hot air balloon. One of my #balloons posts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSVuDBKLC5A https://feddit.online/c/floatingisfun@fedia.io/p/1714852/dont-look-down-by-kriss-kyle
It makes the balloon suddenly get one whole person lighter and shoot up in the air. The pilot has to prepare for this by being in a descent when the jumper jumps out. If the jump is unexpected, the balloon will climb so fast that the balloon collapses, deflating and falling out of the sky.
Team Rocket are actually great pilots! The spots they can get that balloon into and out of are absurd. They can take it seemingly whatever direction they want, with people and critters jumping into and out of the balloon at random.
They could be professional aeronauts, but their boss keeps making them chase a living high voltage hazard and his balloon-wrecking friends.
Silly rabbit, spacesuits are for Earthlings!

Reddit@lemmy.world•I built a Firefox extension to help people bring Reddit posts over to Lemmy - Lemmy Deep LighthouseEnglish
2·27 天前You must be the first user from literature.cafe to visit. Our Lemmy/Mbin/PieFed conglomeration here tries to make posts visible to your instance via federation. Since nobody from your instance is subscribed to Floating Is Fun, your instance never received those posts. Now that you’re here, any future posts should show up.
To see older posts, view Floating Is Fun from another instance that’s been subscribed longer, like from lemmy.world or from feddit.online. You could also view it from fedia.io and see everything, but that instance requires an account to browse. We tried to avoid that, but the Kbin code base is cursed.

5·1 个月前flashbacks from three years ago when I started !FloatingIsFun@fedia.io and manually reposted all 400 of /r/FloatingIsFun’s posts there as fast as I could
Most communities do not need reposts from Reddit. I did because the collection as a whole is important to me, and because my subreddit contained things that would become lost media if the subreddit gets banned.
If you decide to mass repost a bunch of Reddit stuff, get it all done quickly after creating your community here. This keeps your spam off people’s Subscribed feeds, but even that won’t save the All feed users. I had people wanting to block my community due to a Fedia time zone mix-up putting all of my posts on Lemmy’s front page.
Please repost responsibly.

Technology@lemmy.world•Parent company of Truth Social reports $400M lossEnglish
13·1 个月前TMTG is also active in financial services, and the company announced US$2.5 billion in funding a year ago to invest in cryptocurrencies, one of Trump’s recent passions.
But the plunge in digital currencies hit this part of the business hard as the price of Bitcoin tumbled from over US$126,000 in early October to below US$70,000 in March.
It has since rebounded somewhat to over US$80,000.
Because the company is required to reveal the value of its investments, even if it hasn’t sold them, it recorded a loss of US$406 million for the first quarter.
“The vast bulk” of the loss was due to digital assets, the company stated.
So the parent company is also a crypto bank that lost value when their crypto lost value. Just another kind of grift.

5·1 个月前I started replaying Klonoa: Moonlight Museum, this time with its fan translation so I get the story and RetroAchievements I missed before. The developers dealt with the WonderSwan’s terrible display by turning Klonoa into a chill little puzzle platformer, a design they repeated twice on the GBA.
I recently completed Mega Bomberman’s RetroAchievement set, then poked at its superior PC Engine version, Bomberman '94. It’s good classic Bomberman. I want to start playing the fantastic fan game Power Bomberman once my new MacBook Pro Linux Mint setup is more stable.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Posting to Lemmy/Piefed/Mbin/etc. is just filing photos and news articles into the correct folders…English
4·1 个月前I can confirm this. My community is a unique collection that has never existed before, available to all. The upvotes tell me if what I post is actually good or if I’m just biased toward it.
It’s about making the game playable for the most players possible. Good accessibility mechanics don’t give players a competitive advantage, but they can help close the gap. You could put a degree of auto-aim in Counter-Strike, but don’t make it faster or more accurate than a skilled human player can click on enemies’ heads. You still have to predict where the enemy players will come from.
Some features like remappable controls and input device support are absolutely necessary to make games playable for lots of people. I wouldn’t consider remapping controls a certain way to be an advantage. If someone comes up with a better control scheme for first-person games than keyboard-and-mouse, the high level players will be the first to adopt it.
In Quake Live, you can force the enemy character models to use a bright green colors, and all kinds of players make use of that without changing how people play Quake Live. Control assists like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s steering assist and Street Fighter 6’s Modern control style make the games playable for people who aren’t great with controllers, without breaking the whole game in favor of those mechanics.

Floating Is Fun@fedia.io•The Weightless Machine by Colin FurzeEnglish

Floating Is Fun@fedia.io•The Weightless Machine by Colin FurzeEnglish
4·2 个月前Welcome to Floating Is Fun! I’m happy you found us! I knew I can’t be the only one easily distracted by floaty things. I couldn’t find a community for this anywhere, so I created one.
Our posts tend to have a lot of 2D art from pixiv because they categorize well and the art community is good about giving their creators credit. For real, though, I’d like to have more real life examples of floatiness like this, but real life floating isn’t common and tracking down the origin of such a video is difficult.
Also, Lemmy likes GIFs a lot more than embedded YouTube videos. I carefully convert these using Ezgif and write my own alt text. The extra effort isn’t for everyone, but it’s worth it.

Floating Is Fun@fedia.io•The Weightless Machine by Colin FurzeEnglish
12·2 个月前For this GIF, the counterweight on the other side is probably supporting about 95% of his weight. He adjusts this weight up and down off-camera for the other parts of the video. If it supported over 100% of his weight, then yes, we would never come back down.

Oh dang, even the AI video version on FrazierKay’s Twitter and TikTok looks really plausible. The only tells that it’s fake are the 5 second video length and originating on a feed with other AI versions of Call of Duty maps.
