1946 to 1964 is exactly the range of birth years traditionally assigned to ‘baby boomers’. anyone older or younger isn’t a boomer at all.

Memes@lemmy.ml•Which one was supposed to be the "dictatorship hellscape" again 🤔
1·3 days agoso the specific image adds nothing (since being arrested anywhere for anything usually ends up with being in a cell), and could just be any image depicting anyone in a cell?
perhaps it was foolish of me to think there was a joke here.
that is definitely not perl.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Older people (30+) online, what would you advise younger generations in regards to life?
2·6 days agogood advice about buses. i chased after a bus once. i tripped, twisted my ankle, damaged my clothing, and scraped the hell out of my left wrist, elbow, and shoulder. still got a scar from it. everyone on the bus saw, and the bus driver waited for me as i limped up to the next stop.
the trick, i’d imagine, is to be rich enough that you don’t have to deal with doing your own chores or errands (let the servants get groceries and cook and clean and drive you places).
yeah, i know that number is horribly inflated, and few ever look at the considerably larger death toll that ought to be ascribed to capitalism, but to suggest that the any state, such as the ussr, doesn’t have any blood on its hands seems naive at best, and actively deceptive at worst.
is there a joke in this one? could you explain it?
not sure if this is trying to say that everyone who died at the hands of Communists™ weren’t people, didn’t have souls, or were just universally evil and went to the Bad Place and therefore deserved it, but whichever way, it doesn’t seem like a good look.
yeah, but of that was the case, they shouldn’t have included the invasion if korea in 598, which predates the formation of the PRC by over 1300 years.
yeah, i think this is relying pretty heavily on people’s ignorance of china’s history to seem even remotely believable. idk why they feel the need to lie anyway, cause china’s record in the modern day is still undeniably better than the US’s.
i haven’t heard of any place on lemmy restricting one’s ability to post based on your vote total, but i’d never encountered it during my many years on reddit, either.
if you get a lot of downvotes, and someone is sorting by “top” or “hot”, your post or comment will be further down the list though, and vice versa for upvotes. (though personally, i almost always sort by “new” on lemmy, or sometimes, “new comments”.)

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Where's the best point to jump into modern Resident Evil?
2·13 days agomost of the resident evils work well as standalones. the only ones i’d say are really proper sequels are 3 (play 2 first) and 8 (play 7 first). there’s some throughlines in terms of characters beyond that, but not really anything plotwise that you’d miss out by having missed the rest of the franchise.

2·14 days agoi know who the rock is, but that doesn’t help me get whatever joke may or may not be happening here.
DONT: dispose of human remains in a window planter
DONT: break your TV by kicking a man’s skull into it
DO: get chased around by a great depression tramp with a big stick

does north korea have veto power?
