Why don't states in the US come up with their own health insurance program? So people can pay into it prolly less then what they pay now and the state put the money in a bank and use the interest for

The percentage varies, but the federal government funds more than half.

    Which also makes it more expensive, as insurance gets cheaper the more people are on the same provider
