    The backstory from Google:

According to the most popular version, this scene is deeply personal for the artist Pukirev; this is his beloved marrying the rich prince. Most likely, she was a poor woman without a dowry and her parents considered marriage with a wealthy, prosperous prince to be the best option for her

I didn’t think I’d ever see someone depicted looking so high AND smug at the same time

This guy was so high he didn’t even realize he was the groom. Dude thought he was walking his daughter down the aisle.

This guy was so high he didn’t recognize the fire burning in her mind, the chaos that controlled his mind.

Interesting detail in that her eyes are puffy and red along with her nose.

I assume she’s been crying tears of joy while waiting to marry her betrothed.

Everybody’s gonna blame the wedding photographers but there’s no lens that makes frowning people smile. Definitely could’ve done more for the lighting though.
