    as someone who really likes co-ops as a weapon against capitalism, it really pisses me off when assholes use the term because they’re worried that folks are wise to DAOs being a grift

    so far there’s some extremely crypto-reminiscent damage control happening in the linked thread, right down to folks being redirected to their discord so concerns can be silenced (they own a damn mastodon instance) and having the most toxic parts of their community come to the thread to run hostile PR

      Pushing people towards a Discord rather than a more public-facing source of information is obnoxious and suspicious even outside of cryptocurrency/AI grift scenarios. If nothing else, it sets off my “STOP USING DISCORD AS A FORUM REPLACEMENT” inclinations.
