My friend and I saw it on Wednesday and it was pretty damn good. There were a bunch of jokes poking fun at Fox and Disney.

“Hey, Disney. Can I tell you to suck my dick?”

          “Will it make me money?”

          “Yes, lots of money.”

“Will I have to actually change my practices in a meaningful way?”

          “No”

“Lets do it. Now will you excuse me, I have legal battles to fight with the poors.”

If the boss personally stands to make millions of dollars because I called them a couch fucker then I could easily call them a couch fucker.

We saw the same shit with The Boys. Ohhh what a biting satire of Amazon and the super hero media churning industry! They’re so upset!

If either was saying anything of consequence that actually spoke out against the people cutting their checks then they’d be left on the cutting room floor. I can’t believe people think for even a second these corporate sanctioned “acts of defiance” are in any way legitimate.

These shows/movies say a lot but that specific act is nonsense.

Edit: really and truly people need to take a step back and realize how boardroom influenced these movies are, even if they aren’t driven from the top. Studios don’t throw that kind of cash at a movie and not have a say and most of them really aren’t stupid.

Those jokes are almost as true as companies being thrilled to see you created a new account with them or sad to see you unsubscribe a newsletter.

The goal is to make them money and selling out with no consequence is a cheap way of doing that.

You and your friend just fell for it and its an honest mistake

We didn’t “fall for” anything. It was a good movie and it was like $6 a ticket. Who would have thought that the goal of a movie is to make money? I’M SHOCKED WITH THIS NEW INFORMATION! 😮

I’m torn. Studio executives are not known for advanced level pattern recognition so they will see two data points of “billion dollar R rating” and “comic book” and want to make gritty, bloody reboots of things.

But I also like it when movies don’t hold back on scenes and treats everyone as someone who wouldn’t mind some light trauma with their movie snacks.

The Kraven movie just came out with a super brutal trailer so the executives definitely think “oh, the comic book stuff has to be bloody to make money now”. Come to think of it, the jokey tone of Venom very much feels like a reaction to the first Deadpool as well.

I hope this means more R-Rated movies. Twisters was such a letdown and I can only imagine what it could have been if it wasn’t so watered down. The upcoming Beetlejuice sequel will likely suffer the same despite the play getting it right. We need some damn adult entertainment!

Seriously. Kids already watch blood, gore, and sexuality in media on the internet anyway. This PG-13 crap is only there to make executives think they can reach the lowest common denominator for audiences without realizing it can make the story much less interesting for everyone.

Just went a second time. If anything the movie is even better on rewatch. Easily the best of the trilogy. And the second time I actually enjoyed Emma Corrin even more as Cassandra Nova.

Agreed. It’s was very entertaining and sometimes, went far deeper than necessary - the drama was done so well.

I haven’t read the reviews. I dont even know what the reviews are saying. I just didn’t like it as much as i liked the first two.

Also the parallel timeline theme really is being overused these days.

I really enjoyed the movie, but every super hero solving their problems by going through the “multiverse” is definitely getting boring

TIL people have far different movie expectations than others on a scale I really didn’t know was so far apart.

This movie is fucking great joke her is also pretty damn good.

Don’t read the reviews just watch it for yourself make your own judgement call and move on.
