The victims don’t want to impose suffering for the sake of suffering though. It’s supposed to be an empathy building exercise.
The mistake is thinking CEOs have access to any empathy in the first place.
Social reasons. It’s easier to just do it than have a 5 year old not understand why they’re the only one that misses out, or explain the whole thing and expect a 5 year old to keep it secret from their friends, pissing off all the other parents when they tell them, all to avoid doing something that’s just a bit of fun anyway and isn’t likely to destroy your kids trust in you for life by itself.
Jokes on them, I occasionally forgot when my kid told me and just had to say I guess the tooth fairy was extra busy. Once I forgot 2 nights in a row. So this wouldn’t have been conclusive data.
I actually do something for monthly bills where I set aside half its amount every 2 weeks. So if it’s $100 a month, I put away $50 each fortnight to pay it. Then every 6 months a magical spare $50 appears that I can do whatever with.
Also it gets worse. Either he’s commandeered his friend into doing this with him for free, or they’re splitting it and he’s actually managing to average every 12 minutes.
If you want to actually know, you eat it vertically instead of horizontally like most are taught. You honestly barely notice the core if you eat it this way, I do it to get a reaction sometimes. You can probably find videos online if you’re not sure exactly what I mean.

You’re welcome to watch the office or whatever on repeat for the rest of your life, or simply not watch TV, but to say you fundamentally can’t understand why anyone would watch anything new says more about you than them.

Games@lemmy.world•PlayStation Plus price increase announced for new customersEnglish
1·2 个月前No you pay the ISP for internet access in general, that is justified by the cost of infrastructure, which you ALSO have to pay when accessing it on playstation on top of ps+. It’s really not the same thing at all.
Btw I personally pay for ps+ because as someone that jumped into the ps5 after the last console I had be the ps2, I’ve found I’m never without something to play from all the back catalogue alone. Even just the 20 game pack they gave on release was worth it to me at the time. I just put away $3 a week and buy it on black Friday sales with change.
Spiderman 2 that they gave access to this year basically covered the price alone, and I don’t have to justify each game I buy, it’s just another annual bill like Netflix. Will I lose the whole thing if I stop paying or Sony changes things? Yeah. But I already knowingly factored that in. It’s a Netflix for games and I’m okay with that.
A few years ago I looked at what I spent on ps+ 2020-2025 vs steam 2015-2020, and ps+ was less. That’s enough for me to be happy.
Megamind was the first thing that popped to my mind without thinking further. Was hoping someone said it, didn’t have to scroll that far either.

Technology@lemmy.world•Judge rules DOGE used ChatGPT in a way that was both dumb and illegal / The ruling restores federal grants that were shut down for ‘DEI’ prejudice.English
75·2 个月前God this is beyond ridiculous.
They used ChatGPT to sort over 1,400 National Endowment for the Humanities grants into spreadsheets. Their exact prompt to the AI was “Does the following relate at all to DEI? Respond factually in less than 120 characters. Begin with ‘Yes.’ or ‘No.’ followed by a brief explanation.”
They didn’t define what they meant by DEI. They just asked ChatGPT to figure it out. And then cancelled grants based on whatever it said. Probably didn’t even read past the yes or no.
The government’s defence was essentially ChatGPT did it, not us. When asked if he regretted people losing income, he said he didn’t, because reducing the deficit was more important. When asked if they actually reduced the deficit, he admitted they did not.
They caused real harm, achieved nothing they claimed to be pursuing, and expressed zero regret about it.
Just really horrible all around.
Pedantic reading: there are 2 pawns side by side looking at the castle, arguably one of them should be able to tear it down with their bare hands right now.

2·2 个月前Yeah my backlog is so big now that I could probably be happy without ever buying another game. Of course there are some I still will just from being a fan of the ip or if something really interesting comes out but yeah I’m certainly not rushing out the door to grab it.

Even the algorithm shows new stuff sometimes just to see if it sticks. I get makeup and hair videos occasionally even though I’m male in late 30s that never showed any interest in such things.
