Or the social norm of the wealthier class is to steal from the poorer/weaker class. They are constantly rewarded by their peers for displaying this behavior. Children are inherently poorer and weaker than they are.

A few days ago when I was converting an old windows desktop to Linux I hit Google on accident (Firefox default).

On the first page I got 2 traditional search results. They were links to AI slop sites. The entire rest of the page was full of useless crap.

Should be the same concept with rental units. Taxes should go up exponentially for every unit you own over a certain limit. Of course if there’s is a limit to how many homes or units a person can own, they will just create thousands of small corporations to own them.

The amount of shit science being published today is appalling. It’s always been a significant issue, but it has gotten worse with time. I have read articles published in the top journals who’s methodology should have made a 1st year graduate student cringe. I have no idea how they made it past peer review and were published.

Organized crime is an interesting topic. In my opinion it’s existence shows a disconnect of the needs of the people and their government/social structure. Every country has some amount of “organized crime”. There is no exception. What does differ is the size, power, and wealth of the criminal syndicate.

The larger and more severe the disconnect between the people’s needs and government, the more extensive and structured these criminal organizations become.

For example gangs often form in an regions where opportunity is limited or a group of people are being oppressed. Inner city gangs are a good example of this. They form as a form of protection and a chance for opportunity. These opportunities are usually supplying things that are illegal but still in demand.

If government bans or fails to provide something with a very high demand (like prohibition of alcohol in the U.S. and just about everything in the Soviet Union) the criminal organizations grow in wealth and sophistication.

The only effective way to stop these criminal organizations is fulfill the demand and provide other opportunities for the individuals. For example the U.S. legalized alcohol. This dramatically reduced income to criminal opportunity. Under FDR support structures, fair wages, education, and all sorts of opportunities were created (for whites). The opportunity for individual people through criminal activity declined and most of them left the criminal organizations. In darker skin colored groups where opportunity remained limited, criminal activity remained higher.

Organized crime can be dramatically reduced by providing opportunities to all individuals.

Alternatively a complete collapse and takeover by the criminal organizations like the Soviet Union to Russia is also a option.

The first thing I noticed when I was over in europe 30 years ago, is the hospital waiting rooms are small compared to American standards in larger cities.

The reason: routine non-emergency care is handled at the clinics because those are free/inexpensive too. So emergency rooms tend to have less traffic as people don’t wait as long for care. Earlier intervention = better health outcomes.

The regular clinics had very short wait times. You could get a routine appointment within a few days. The clinic was busy but you weren’t waiting for 2-3 hours for a regular appointment. (Maybe 15 minutes).

I am beyond sick of it. If they make me sign up for a bullshit account, they don’t get my business.

A restaurant with a QR code instead of a menu, I walk out of. One that requires a kiosk or app to order, same thing.

I have a zero tolerance for marketing e-mails & text. I block/spam every single one.

I had a $2.13 medical lab bill last week that wanted me to make an account including jumping through hoops to prove my identity etc… to pay them! They got a check in the mail.

They are getting paid on their active users for advertising and investors. I would guess the active humans involved is >1% of them.

Reddit became a relied on as a source for information because of the massive amounts of free expertise offered by a small group of experts. The majority of the experts left due to the shenanigans.

On lemmy, it was slow at first. However a small core of experts hung around and started building with the group that was already here. Slowly it started generating a real information hub.

The app builders also took some time to get the new apps fully functional and polished. For example today, Connect is superior in many regards to RiF. It definitely did not start out that way.
