For me, it wasn’t that, but the ribbon cable inside. A 20 cent part broke, but Samsung won’t allow techs to fix that. Their “fix” is to replace the hinge, inner, and outer screens, a $600 part. Maddening, considering the cable can be fixed.

I always vote, local, state, and federal. I would never vote for candidates who specifically are out to destroy things, or do austerity measures. I also don’t vote by party, but by values.

Because few people vote in my area, my votes have enormous impacts on society at large, which feels uniquely powerful.

I love the woods a lot, so I voted for a candidate that wanted to preserve them. My singular vote alone counted as 2% of the entire state, and the pro-Muir candidate won. And that was me alone, I also talked to friends and family about voting, which they did.

It’s cool, but $2,000 is way too expensive, especially if it has issues and can’t last 5-6 years at least. My Samsung Z fold broke a few years in, and the cost to repair exceeded buying a replacement phone.

I’d much rather have a cutting edge nuclear plant nearby rather than a data center. Especially since the nuclear plant probably wouldn’t have much in the way of emissions, unlike gas turbines at AI data centers.

This will only change with proper police enforcement. But the much bigger problem are car accidents, which disproportionately affect pedestrians, causing just shy of 6,000 accidents in my city.

Bikes had 260 crashes, zero of which were fatal, but many of which involved cars.

Vision Zero is working, and bike and scooter accidents will increase as usage increases. But slowing cars and making roads narrow to limit speeding will keep more people, including drivers, safer.

Yes, extremely important right now, too. They’re pretty much the only thing that’s stopping CWD, a prion disease cousin to Mad Cow, from spreading across north America in wild game and bush meat. Wolves are immune to it, interestingly enough. And they go after sick animals exhibiting odd, “zombie like” behavior due to CWD.

I pray to God it doesn’t jump from bush meat to humans, or into cattle and farming.

In a bit of a reverse to this, wolf populations are WAY up in Oregon, now. Even with poisonings and deliberate killings. There are hundreds of wolves in the state, and they trend upwards each year.

…oregon has no wolf reintroduction program. These wolves have come from other states, like Montana, Idaho, and Washington, whose numbers are also increasing!

Wolves restore habitats degraded by overpopulation and disease, bringing back species lost or driven out by overgrazing or defoliation of trees. :)

Rinsing the dishes definitely helps cut down on this, though. And occasionally checking the filter at the bottom. A little rinsing goes a long way, I’ve found.

That’s not bad! I largely don’t drive anymore, unless there’s something I cannot do by ebike or train. I would like to get a used EV someday for those times where I really do need a car.

I have this Hafny mirror, and it’s actually pretty solid. Decent viewing angles, but can suffer a bit from vibration if you have a rigid fork. That said, even on a rigid bike, I’ve had pretty decent visibility with it.

It’s incredible durable, after years of getting hit and folded inwards. A great choice if you like mirrors that clamp to the bars.

Hmm. I think your GPU would run in 8x mode, but it should be fine, even sharing lanes with the network card.

I’ve run cards off mobos with the same number of lanes, and a very similar gigabyte pcie network card, and it ran flawlessly.

I’d check the physical connection, look for damage to the antenna connectors where the wire meets the SMA connector, and try swapping in the old GPU as a control if you still have it. On paper, things should still be fine.
