Agreed, I’ve also seen and heard a lot of this attitude, going back decades now.
In addition, I think that Islamophobia is very widespread in the UK, including among ethnic minority groups. Both white and non-white Islamophobes see anti-immigrant polices as partly or primarily a way to persecute Muslims and prevent more of them coming to the UK.

Even if you use open source software exclusively, the hardware you run it on was still manufactured under capitalism, the hardware it was built on was manufactured under capitalism, the electricity you’re powering your hardware with was provided by capitalism, and the very economic system that allowed the devs to build and maintain the software… was capitalism.
None of this is in capitalism’s favour. That there’s no getting away from it is, for Marxists, a key argument against it.
I actually don’t have a blanket hate of AI; it genuinely has some useful applications .
Like you, though, I strongly resent software being installed on my machines without my permission. Not an anti-AI argument as such, granted.
My problem with LLMs specifically is that they have been set up to use the labour of other people, without permission and without paying for that labour, which is plainly unethical.

I’m not a communist myself, but the last point is so fatuous that I think it’s fair to conclude that anyone actually making it is not arguing in good faith.
The first two, though, are completely valid arguments and you should respond to them by ceasing to describe yourself as a communist!

Europe? I don’t know her.

‘I told you you were hardcore’.

I am not confused. The distinction you are making is irrelevant to me. Yet another thing I use every day has had AI shoehorned into it and I’m annoyed about that. Telling me that it’s only the host, not the software, does not suddenly make me okay with it.

It’s not ragebait. I use a wordpress.com site, and WordPress have added an ‘Improve with AI’ option to the new post sidebar as I see it; these are facts! I don’t see that I need to go around and verify that its been added to every variant of WordPress site before I say that it’s there. It is there.

‘Wow, your blog is so great! Have you thought about making it really fucking generic instead?’

Prince of Persia on the GameCube (I think? It was a long time ago!) had a mechanism very like this, where you manually rewound time after you died/failed. More Action/Adventure than an RPG, though.

I, for one, welcome our new cephalopod overlords.

I wish we knew how many people have just one deliberate interaction with AI - which is to switch it off.

I feel like Mozilla going all-in on AI is going to have an identical outcome as when NaNoWriMo did the same. Just a wild misunderstanding of who supports them and why!

Can you imagine explaining this to people in a few decades?
‘People were opposed to electric cars back in the old days.’
‘Oh, that’s weird. Were petrol cars cheaper?’
‘Nope’.
‘Were they… cleaner?’
‘No, no. They made the air poisonous, actually.’
‘Even for the people driving them?’
‘Especially for the people driving them!’
‘Oh, so petrol engines must’ve been more efficient.’
‘Ha ha, oh God, no.’
‘???’

Every small town/village has loads of kids hanging out in supermarket carparks. It is, as you say, bleak.

That is really upsetting! Those old housing estates get a bad rap (sometimes justified), but it’s noticeable that they’re the only inner city neighbourhoods where kids still play outside regularly, precisely because they’re designed with pedestrians rather than cars in mind.

I think if it’s true that he’s a racist - and it is - it’s worth saying it. In addition there are two instrumental reasons we should say it.
First, Farage’s whole schtick has been to say: ‘You can oppose immigration without being a racist’ and the related argument ‘You shouldn’t be called a racist just because you want less immigration’. Proving that he is, himself, a racist makes both arguments deeply suspect.
It also more broadly crystallises what’s evil about him for those of us who already hate him (most people!) and shows exactly why he needs to be kept out of power at all costs. If I’m in a swing seat at the next election (currently safe Labour but will there be anywhere safe by 2029?) this is the kind of thing that will make me go ‘I don’t have to like it - and I don’t - but I’m voting for Lib Dems/Greens/whoever is best placed to beat this guy’.

Ha, I came here to say Bitches Brew before seeing it was in the OP!
I’d add Loveless by My Bloody Valentine: much-imitated, but there’s nothing quite like it.
Also, my early '90s bias is showing here, but In Utero by Nirvana is uniquely brilliant. No one’s melded beauty and ugliness so successfully in any medium.
I think when they just said ‘Yes, LLMs can steal your work’. That showed they don’t even care about property rights, which is the one thing the right have always pretended was their raison d’être.
