You know this will only make people want to dig deeper, right? Whoever is paying you off to pretend like nothing is going on should’ve really told you to use an alt or something.

Can we stop with this subtle EU propaganda slop? I LIVE in an EU country and I have the exact same problem with modern movies. This has nothing to do with who gets to make the laws, there are only two reasons why everything needs subtitles now:

I love how new versions of the CLI have the result automatically update as you type. Nice to see people going above and beyond to make CLI’s pleasant!

Banned from community? Post score in the negative? What are the mods trying to cover up here?!

Also recommending ArchiveBox – it takes the shotgun approach to archiving websites, making snapshots with a bunch of different tools, singlefile being among them. You can use it as a one-shot command, or run it as a web server which provides a UI for archiving web pages. Linkwarden is similar.
IMHO the only reason to go above 60Hz is for better responsiveness in competitive games. Otherwise it’s just a meme, definitely a total gimmick on smartphones.

Forgejo is an activitypub-enabled Git forge software, and codeberg is one of the largest forgejo instances.
Tangentially related, but git-annex, and, in particular, its sync subcommand are a great tool for storing files and managing git repos across multiple machines (and even just loose drives) in a “P2P” way without any centralised server

That’s… putting it mildly. It was a straight-up landgrab, a classic war of aggression.
I’m not good with words haha. When it comes to difficult/sensitive things I sometimes fall back to caveman speak more or less (in any language). Sounds like you got what I’m trying to say tho, so whatever :)
song is a banger btw :D

Fine, I’ll bite.
It’s not good that Putin commanded the russian army to invade ukraine under the pretense of “denazification”. It wouldn’t have been good under any pretense. Innocent Ukrainians are dying, getting injured, being displaced in the name of “nazis” that don’t exist. Ukrainian culture is being erased in the flames of war. Russia’s invasion of ukraine bears many characteristics of a genocide, and there is no denying that putin’s army has committed and is committing war crimes. It’s not justified. I believe that it wouldn’t be justified EVEN IF Putin’s false narrative of “denazification” was true. Not only Putin, but his entire chain of command, various pro-russian oligarchs, corporations, and individual soldiers are all responsible in some part for this travesty and, in a fair society, should be served justice accordingly.
How’s that sound? Honestly I don’t really care what that you think of me, this is just my personal opinion on the matter. It’s what I tell my friends, coworkers, and people I meet at social functions (it seems my Russian accent often makes people yearn to know what my stance on the matter is, especially when they’ve had a few beers). I know it’s not the most pro-Ukraine take out there, but what matters TO ME is that it is my genuine opinion and is consistent with my moral framework and understanding of reality. I really hope you can say the same for your opinion, even if it differs from mine.

I’m having difficulty following. In your psychoanalysis of my comments, am I meant to be a russian bot or not? The two paragraphs seem contradictory.
For the record, I have to admit the “ukraine is full of nazis” narrative was tempting to me around the time of the euromaidan crisis. You know, when ethno-nationalist groups were playing a large role in the shaping of Ukrainian politics. But as time went on (and as I became wiser) it became clear that the image putin is trying to paint, of Russia sweeping in and “saving ukraine from the fascists” is a very distorted view of reality. I certainly did not believe any part of it by the time of the ukrainian invasion.

No??? The post about a particular instance of the Lemmy federated link aggregator software?? What even makes you think I support putin? I see authoritarianism as threat, it’s the main reason why I haven’t moved back to Russia yet and why I’m actively looking to find potential other places to relocate to in case the EU continues its descent into authoritarianism. I can’t even come up with a witty comeback here, I’m genuinely baffled by your train of thought. Though I guess your use of reddit-tier made-up “vocabulary” like “putlerite” proves that “thought” isn’t something that happens in your head very often.

The comment thread didn’t mention Russia once. Rent free lmao.

despite them often walking hand in hand.
Yeah that’s the whole issue. You’re telling me these “healthy patriots” could not find a SINGLE thing in the entire history of their country to be proud of apart from a slogan used by fascists?
Where I live (Netherlands) people often use the term “Polder mentality” to celebrate the people’s historical ability to cooperate despite differences in opinion. This is what “healthy patriotism” looks like. If you instead go out of your way to praise the nation’s “VOC mentality”, people will rightfully look at you weird and maybe even call you out for glorifying slavery. Because an actual patriot would never be proud of slavery.
If I was a Ukrainian patriot, I would go out of my way to cut any association with the fascist parts of my country’s history, not make it my main slogan.

Bandera’s followers massacred civilians during WWII. No matter what label you stick on it, the ideologies of these people (and, by extension, the slogans they used as rallying calls) have no place in a fair society.

It depends on the phase. Sometimes you get constructive interference and they add up instead.

Didn’t he already do that in his last term? I still remember the jokes people made back then, like “how can it be a terrorist organization if it’s not receiving weapons shipments from the US government!?”

I sadly can’t recommend any communities for this, but what I do know is that search engines have been basically useless for finding software alternatives for a while. Search results are just full of for-profit bullshit trying to sell you their stupid app or low-effort list sites like alternativeto.net. If I need to find an offline alternative to some specific tool, as ironic as it is, I usually just ask an LLM. They work pretty well as a sort of reverse-search engine for finding software based on a description of the features.

I personally like to listen to both sides of the story so that I can absorb 2x the disinformation

Huh? Is this a troll post? “slava ukraini” being a fascist slogan isn’t even a tankie take, it’s just a historical fact. Like, who even disagrees with this? It even says so on english-language wikipedia, which is like the most lukewarm non-controversial source out there:
In April 1941 in German-occupied Kraków, the younger part of the OUN seceded and formed its own organisation, called the OUN-B after its leader Stepan Bandera. The group adopted a fascist-style salute along with calling “Glory to Ukraine!” and responding with “Glory to the Heroes!”
I personally pronounce it with a hard G even when talking about the mythical creature because that’s how it’s pronounced in most other languages that have a similar word. Anglos can go fuck themselves with their needlessly complicated phonetics.
