I don’t think parents, most of who have a job and don’t keep their kids under surveillance 24/7, can hope to compete with dozens of corporations with whole teams dedicated to making their platform addictive. I view the parental responsibility in the same way I view carbon footprints: a way to shift blame from corporations to individuals. I think this view also leads to individual-focused solutions that surveil people (age checks, etc) rather than systemic ones that regulate corporations.

There’s already mushroom packaging, I can’t imagine it would be much of a leap to plates.

Reminds me of a tango planeo

A tiny woman who often asks if the black belts are letting her throw them (yes, we’re being useful for learning) had just enough of the basics to start giving her more complicated details that make a big difference. It was really enjoyable seeing how much fun she was having when she felt effective.

I’ve also been sleeping so much better the past few nights. I got some bone conduction headphones so I can listen to something while sleeping without disturbing my partner or my ears getting funky from being closed off. It helps with masking her snoring and keeps my brain from being bored and seeking stimulation if I wake up in the night. They’re slightly uncomfortable and the volume doesn’t go as quiet as I’d like, but I’ll deal with that for the upsides.

That’s what it’s prepping for, yes.

Usually when I pick it up it’s only for about two weeks. Then I get back to my job and leave the house again.

Went to a board game cafe with three friends and picked out a game (Smallworld) based on one of their tastes. It was a good pick and he plans to get the game. Three of us were within a point of each other in the end.
