I defederated us from two lemmy instances:

  • exploding-heads: transphobia
  • basedcount: finally I get to ban most of r/PoliticalCompassMemes in one go

not that i know of, but it’s interesting that apps that do more or less the same thing and claim to federate can’t actually do so

true! our kbin situation seems to be unique to our infrastructure (are we one of the only lemmy servers running behind a load balancer?), but federation bugs in general are really hard to fix and I’d love better tooling around it. maybe something like an ActivityPub health dashboard that’d flag issues with outgoing/incoming requests?

“i’ll set up a Lemmy to play with,” you told yourself, “I’ll get some users on it cos I liked those subreddits,” you told yourself, “it’ll be easy,” you told yourself,

I can assure you that much like that Kennedy quote startup founders keep stealing to justify their sub imploding, I’m not choosing to go to the Lemmy because it’s easy, but to one-up the Marxist—leninists because it’s hard

lemmy isnt finished until it’s good enough that the rest of the fediverse wants to block lemmygrad

I’m in touch with the kbin dev about it, but they are understandably swamped
