The post Xitter web has spawned soo many “esoteric” right wing freaks, but there’s no appropriate sneer-space for them. I’m talking redscare-ish, reality challenged “culture critics” who write about everything but understand nothing. I’m talking about reply-guys who make the same 6 tweets about the same 3 subjects. They’re inescapable at this point, yet I don’t see them mocked (as much as they should be)
Like, there was one dude a while back who insisted that women couldn’t be surgeons because they didn’t believe in the moon or in stars? I think each and every one of these guys is uniquely fucked up and if I can’t escape them, I would love to sneer at them.

      also “science is published science” mdpi likes that, and also weird to see his claim of 80 papers since 2022 (https://discuss.tchncs.de/post/16521037) that are mostly preprints on background of him saying that peer review is Important

        LeCun did actual noteworthy work in AI research previously and is now a shill at Meta.

        I must note that even LeCun 2024 could casually shit better science than Musk could ever do.

          yeah the guy used to be respected, then went off the deep end. lot of linguists I follow were dunking on some epically bad takes that lecun had in recent years. he’s definitely drinking the koolaid afaict

        This isn’t a shit opener as this isn’t an opener (at least I hope so, I have seen parts of this conversation, and didn’t check timestamps, and I assume it didn’t start this dumb), Musk is having a longer conversaition with LeCun here, and it is a great example of why you shouldn’t wrestle with pigs. The pig doesn’t care about facts, is just there to entertain itself, and eventually you will do something stupid (like this claim about science) and you will be covered in mud.

        The conversation started with Musk going: ‘Well what research did YOU do you nobody?’ To which LeCun said ‘at least 80 papers on AI since 2022 how much did you do?’ which Musk Le Epic countered with ‘that is not enough you are slacking’.

        Don’t feed the trolls, esp not when the troll is a billionaire who needs a security detail to get out of the toilet.
