I ran into some fedi post somewhere recently where someone showed some neat all-css hacks (for doing this), and I’m sure I have the tab or bookmark somewhere but … going to be hard to find atm. and flipside is probably it won’t work on the wp modes anyway because wp is of course utterly fucking cursed

all software sucks, but WordPress particularly sucks
it started as blogging software, then overwhelmingly its users were business site designers, so that’s who’s paying Automattic
hence the shitty Gutenberg block editor
the substrate of blogging functionality hasn’t actually been broken, but …
“what do you mean you can’t model your whole site on Posts”
followed by the next level of hell: “oh god, what, these are all made of Posts? seriously? what?”, and crying in a corner
