@aio @diz Awesome! Reminds me of the “Quantum Disadvantage” paper from SIGBOVIK’24.

@aio @diz I attended a prominent tech conference this year where an executive from a tech giant explained their quantum computing offerings. He got an audience question at the end: “How do you prevent malicious use of this technology?” The presenter was dumbfounded. What “use” could the audience member possibly mean? “Like breaking HTTPS or that sort of thing.” Then he had to explain that quantum computing is not actually useful, despite all the indications otherwise on the previous slides.

@aio @diz I accidentally opened SIGBOVIK’25 first. Turns out it also has a great paper on quantum computing.

“To my knowledge, no one has cheated at factoring in this way before. Given the shenanigans pulled by past factoring experiments, that’s remarkable.”
