There is an entire ecosystem of academics whose purpose, in the Stafford Beer sense, is to launder security service nonsense about the hottest technology du jour.
Well yeah except also the military industrial complex in my country can be just as dumb, I don’t mean this as a unique bash of these people, but rather the idea of using a tool you cannot consistently trust with vital decisions for war and safety.
