Due to budget limitations, the agency often has to rely on the food manufacturers themselves to do their own testing.

Because properly funding the FDA costs money so we’re better off allowing corporations to operate on the honor system according to a large percentage of morons, both historic and contemporary.

I want their pinky when I turns out that they lied. Yakuza-style.

I just wish we’d actually use the death penalty against corporations instead of people. There are so many companies that should be ground into powder for the crimes they’ve committed, but between buying out the legislators and the (not inaccurate) argument that it would put people out of work that we’ll never see it happen. Instead we get ‘cost of doing business’ fines that barely put a dent in profits…

We don’t even have that yet. If I understand this article correctly it requires food manufacturers to test not the FDA.

Because Republicans keep hacking away at regulatory budgets.

Thankfully consumer reports Lunchables piece went viral. Maybe now these fucks will be shamed into funding food safety.

Then again, these are the same folks that stick with their party’s dogma even after elementary school kids get shot in class.
