      The go-to “you aren’t allowed to complain” that I heard was “well there are children starving in Africa”

        There was a liberating moment when I learned that just feeling awful was not an effective way to stop wars.

        Same in the 80s. We made pretty songs like “We are the world” and sent fucktons of rice to Africa that rot because dictators wanted to keep it. Fun times.

      How can you be happy? There are people getting married today, they are much happier!
