I have seen them, completely unironically, try to use a US State department link as evidence that the Uyghur genocide wasn’t happening (Even though only it’s title made it seem like that, if they had actually read it it concluded that it just wasn’t the “kill everyone” kind of genocide, but the “kill their culture” kind)

Yeah, I have seen the same person both argue that the re-education to force Uyghurs into chinese culture is not genocide, but the native american resident school system was.
It’s funny because I’ve specifically gotten multiple removal reasons from Hexbear after saying something like. “I’d prefer to live in neither authoritarian China or the US”
and I’ll get a removal reason like: “False. What credible sources have said the people’s republic is authoritarian? US State Department doesn’t count”.
Which strikes me as super weird cuz I never mentioned the state department myself.
Glad I’m on an instance without Hexbear, at this point.
