Gonna go against the grain here and say that people are only really worried about school shootings because the victims are usually white children, which makes white people scared despite them not being the primary targets of most gun violence.
I don’t trust most gun control measures because almost all of them give an unprecedented amount of power to the police, who, as seen through ICE raids, will NOT go after dangerous criminals and white supremacists having a hoard of guns, but instead will go after minorities who happen to be armed.
You can’t have gun control in America without a complete national police overhaul.
Personally I trust gun control, but only if the police is also dearmed and the military under civilian control (ie., the people collectively command, not a politician). I agree with you.
what are we supposed to do, shoot the police? Not gonna happen. Less guns will mean less gun violence. We already proved we arent gonna do anything when they use their guns on us. Your hypothetical only works when its hypothetical. We are way past the point of 2As intended purpose and it hasnt been seeming like it actually protects us at all.

I live in a country where we have 20x less guns than in the US but 4x the gun violence and 6x the police violence. The quantity matters little. Switzerland has more lax laws than half of the US states and more guns than almost all of Europe and everyone is obligated to keep a fully automatic SG550 in their home after their military service. I don’t see them making the news for shooting children.

So you’re just gonna accept fascism and let your neighbors get taken away by the Gestapo? People DO things when their guns are used on us inappropriately. The problem is that both American main parties are bootlickers who twist themselves into a pretzel to justify police violence. There was a huge wave of protests in 2020 exactly because of that.
I’ll just say one more thing: there’s a reason most black people from the hood have weapons while most people from the suburbs don’t. The later have pigs at their beck and call.
When people show you who they are, believe them. Not what they say, but their actions. Republicans have empathy that’s as deep as the ocean and looove babies! …Until they’re born. Into a burning planet. Then, they are supposed to work. And they’re not guaranteed healthcare or education. And they are allowed to be abused, and justice is kept from them. That’s the conditional, toxic love they offer…
The current system is setup to force you to have and raise children you can’t afford and don’t have the time to raise properly, because both parents have to work full time to survive. Conservatives dont want you to succeed, that’s the point. If you don’t do everything right, they’ll take your kids and use them as slave labor or worse. It’s by design. No different than when they stole native children, used them, abused them, and then let them die.
Children aren’t a burden for the rich. They don’t even raise their own kids. They get an illegal immigrant to do the hard stuff, and treat them like a live in slave. Then once the kids is old enough they send them off to some posh indoctrination camp that costs 20k a month for 10+ years. To the rich, children are just another asset. They offload the responsibility and hard work to other people so they can concentrate on stealing from the poor. Then once the child is a legal adult and fully brainwashed, they fold them into the family crime syndicate.
Some are already trying to reverse child labour laws. Why spend money educating poor kids when you can just put them to work?
