This is due to effect commonly known as “motion”.

It’s just pixels lighting up in preselected colours, image is something your brain makes of it.

What is a picture, if not a visual two-dimensional recreation of something different? I don’t think the medium specifically matters, it could be paint on paper or pixels on a screen.

For me, in Jerboa, this just doesn’t move at all. It threw me off. But if I open it in a browser it goes wild.
There’s a setting to auto play gifs, that’s probably off for you?
Weirdly, I never touched the settings, but it’s spinning today.

Jerboa only displays the first frame of a gif for some reason but it really does look like its moving lol
You can enable autoplaying of gifs and videos in settings. It moves for me.
It’s weird that this doesn’t just affect the preview but also when you tap on the image, the gif doesn’t move. Feels like a bug
Yeah. Probably is a bug. I had many a moment I did not get the joke or whatever just because the GIF literally did not move even if clicked on.
