I’m not sure how talking shit about cats is wholesome. Ever notice how cat people almost never disparage dogs, but dog people are constantly picking fights with cat people?

Dude I have 2 cats that I love and spoil but they are totally like this. I bought a huge pack of super premium cat food (that they were already used to eat) and my cat just refuses to touch it. She lost so much weight I had to go buy the special expensive food just for her. Event took her to the vet ($$$) no issues just picky

What kind of bowl do you use? And do you have their water near the food bowl? Cats usually dislike bowls that are small enough that they hit their whiskers on the sides when they bend down and sometimes they don’t like to eat where they drink (something in their evolutionary background tells them that it’s unsanitary or something).

Of course, cats can also just be picky eaters and get tired of the food. That’s also pretty common.

Do you have an example of a Lemmy post that disparages dogs while also promoting cats? I see the opposite almost daily.

This is such a weird conversation. Like, they’re pets? To each their own? Who gives a shit what memes are being posted about cats or dogs? Lol no one needs to be The Cat Defender or anything, it’s all in good fun. “You MEMED BAD ABOUT CATS??? INTERNET ARGUMENT TIME!!!” Lol

Yeah, I mean, I’ll steal from my partner’s plate when they’re done, but if the cat leaves a little behind it’s for the trash.

I’m going to tell a story on my mother and my childhood cat, Spice.

Every morning, Spice would yell to be fed her breakfast. Mama would crack open a can of Fancy Feast for Spice, Spice would sniff it and wander off. This would piss Mama off to no end. One day, in the afternoon, Mama picked up Spice’s breakfast dish, only to realize it was empty of food. Mama looks at me and says “Ah man, the cat is smarter than me. She’s been planning ahead. She’s not hungry when we leave in the morning, but she knows she’ll be alone all day, so she yells at me to make me put food down so it’s there when she wants it.”

From then on, Spicey would yell for her breakfast, Mama would feed the cat, cat would sniff it and walk away, Mama would say “Fine eat it later.”

    True story.

Dogs: omnivorous pack animals designed to consume just about anything, like the wily human.

Cats: carnivorous obligate hunters unable to effectively consume carbohydrates and despite the popular trope and demonstrable desireability, tend to be unable to digest fish both of which finds its way into all their food. Also they’re picky assholes.
