I would just love to here a news report of it being one of the most watched, but everyone shut it off before Jake fought.

Yes, they will know but won’t care because a view for them doesn’t mean to watch the whole thing, to record a view it only requires a shot amount of watch time.

There was a news article a couple months back about how long you need to watch in order for each streaming service to record a watch.

I mean it to just fuck with Paul. The woman’s fight before him and Tyson was a really good fight. I should have turned it off after that. My only reason though was to mess with Jake.

“X amount of people watched every fight except Paul’s…”

Yeah, they know exactly where you stop, and if enough people stop at a key moment (think GoT Red Wedding), they might use that data to inform future decisions, but it’s a really mixed signal in this case. First, they have to be looking for “who stopped before the main event” as some sort of a signal. They might be, or they might look at it in the future, but like the previous person said, you’re counted as a view well before you get to that point. In their eyes, you’ve effectively voted in favor of Jake Paul because the main event is Jake Paul. It’s sorta like ordering a happy meal as a protest to MacDonalds and hoping they notice you didn’t eat the burger patty. There are clearer ways to protest, like not watching it in the first place, or canceling your sub.

Also, it won’t fuck with Jake at all. He’ll get paid either way, and there are probably a hundred other metrics his team will care about more than that one (if Netflix even shares that level of detail). Moreover, being controversial and polarizing isn’t a problem for Jake Paul. I’m sure they expect plenty of this sort of thing.

You’re assuming this data would be available to people outside of the company. I doubt a whistleblower would come forward to report about how many people stopped watching when the Jake bout came on.

    They wouldn’t even care.

Unless you were also grifting the free week trial thingy and not actually paying the subscription. But usually they’ll only offer that once per email account/credit card.

ETA: they do know, they just don’t care if you do or not. It’s pretty normal to roll between streaming services instead of having dozens at one time.

Netflix doesn’t disclose numbers (usually), but I remember Nielsen asking me a couple of years ago to start tracking my Netflix usage. maybe stay tuned to the next fight and see what they report lol
