Add it to the mountain of reasons I’m not likely to cross the border and give them any money anytime soon.

This Canadian will be staying away until the possibility of being sent to an gulag is off the table.

My aunt travelled very recently to the States, but because she wasn’t subject to being ID’d my dad has been singing fake news for the last few days.

My guess is that it is still in the process of being implemented.

And my guess is that they are implementing this everywhere to prevent people who want to overstay their visa to have a loophole.

That would be the stated reasons.

It’s what else they’ll do with all that juicy personal information that concerns me.

Then again, I (and a lot of other canadians) didn’t need any additional reasons to not go there, so it’s not changing my plans to stay away from Trumpistan.

How did she enter? Because airports have had portrait photos taken when going through customs for years now. At the land borders, cars are photographed and x-rayed at the border, and the only time they don’t ask you for ID is when they already know who you are (from something like Nexus). Maybe there’s crossings in rural areas that have way less security?

I’ve been traveling back and forth for the last 10-ish years, and I’m honestly confused as to what exactly is changing. It sounds like they might be adding additional checkpoints for exiting the country and taking photos at that point? I guess I’ll find out on my next crossing.

I have a Nexus card. They have my complete background, finger prints, iris scans, and facial biometrics. Who fucking cares? It’s just a pedofascist flex. Just yawn at them. It will drive them crazy that you’re not bothered.

Do you think that the US didn’t photograph you dozens of times every time you crossed the border? Do you think that the airlines and Canadian government don’t share information about you when you travel? Do you think they don’t monitor your phone calls? Do you think they don’t monitor your social media?

I’ve working in nation state level information security for 15 years and boy, do I have news for you.
