I recommend using PWAs. That way you get the web version and it acts like an installed program.
This is the one I use. It’s an add-on for Firefox.
It integrates seamlessly into Linux.
This is a great tip! Didn’t even think of it, though I kind of knew it existed. I actually ended up using the WebApps app on Linux Mint, and, voila! An up-to-date web interface made local! Now if we could just get contact photos to display for everyone, and add the ability to sort contacts by surname, I’d be kissing the moonbeams off my elbows (meaning that I’d be even happier than I am now 😁).
Hmmm . . . what other web apps could I make? 🤔
To put it bluntly, Proton seems to think the part of their userbase that values their privacy is a minority worthy of frequent overlooking. Maybe some day they’ll do a desktop parity update like they did with mobile, or at the minimum a Linux update, but otherwise probably not.
