Bryan Cranston defended Anna Gunn’s ‘Breaking Bad’ character Skyler against vitriolic fans who think she’s a ‘bitch.’
… do they not realize it’s a fiction show?
wait, are they mad that the fictional character doesn’t like that her husband cooks meth?
Idiots exist, and they’re often the most vocal.
No one seems to be afraid of looking like a total idiot anymore. From top to bottom.
Anybody who can act well enough to make you dislike them is doing a good job at acting their unlikable character.
Just ask the kid who played the king in GoT.
Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator (2000). I still hate him a tiny bit to this day as he was so god damn good in that role!
It ended up ruining his career, because people are idiots.
IMO her reactions to Walter’s actions throughout the series aren’t even that far fetched. I understand why people hate on Skyler but given the situation she found herself in I’d like to see anyone else do better.
The way I saw it was this: It’s sort of like Skyler finding out that her partner has been cheating on her, but her husband wasn’t sleeping with anyone else. Instead he fell in love with power, and would do anything to attain it, including sacrificing his family. He loved the power he held more than he loved anything or anyone else. She was just another casualty to his lust for power. By the time he figured out that money and power won’t keep your bed warm at night, she was far beyond his reach and didn’t want anything to do with him. It’s tragic.
It’s really those vitriolic fans telling on themselves. Sure if Skylar had her way, Walter wouldn’t have been doing bad things and the show would end. Just like Walter, they want to be bad even when shown their choice is bad.
Two of my favorite scenes of the whole series are Skyler scenes. The one where she tells Marie to shut up, and the one where she asks Walt when is it enough money.
I have mixed feelings about this because I thought at first this was about the character and then the actress was brought up. The actress didn’t do anything to make me dislike the character. It’s a show where most of the characters are unlikeable on some level. That’s kind of the point though is that humans are flawed. By the end you should want Walter to finally get his arrogant mouth shut permanently.
Well, her character’s job was basically to be a stick in the mud. You’re not really supposed to like her, but for a normal human being it’s not hard to at least empathize with her actions.
The irony of hating an actor for a fictional role, in which she is shown pissed off about how she has to be the “bitch” towards their son
We’ve come full circle
Interesting, I just finished watching that episode of Hot Ones Vs. that he said this on.
