As a kid I lived in a house in the countryside, literally a mile from the next house. We had a cat, a female tortie, called Poppy. One day we brought Poppy in the house just before we were all leaving (big house, don’t worry) and when we went outside… there was Poppy, sat next to the car. She seemed a bit standoffish but let us pick her up and put her inside. How odd.

Later on we got home to find two cats in the house. Both female tortoiseshells and nearly identical. We never found out where the second cat came from, she was in no rush to leave and the two cats got on well enough so we kept her. But to this day we haven’t got a clue where the second one (we called her Jinx) came from.

Anyway, this cat looks just like Poppy and Jinx. Honestly I got a bit choked up seeing this photo and being reminded of them - they were both thick as shit and I loved them.

They were probably sisters. We had two tortie sisters, but they were distinctly different. One had a line right down the middle of the nose, and was mostly black one side of her face, and mostly tan on the other side.

Classic torty. She makes you think she’s a grumpster…then she confirms she’s grumpy by swiping at your gentle caress and gurfing.
