Good. The time to begin the painful divestiture from the US economy is now. Temporary recession for long-term independence

Yep dollar for dollar and roll out the digital services act

Also start cancelling auto renewals for Microsoft contracts and start to investigate alternatives to us tech

Let’s also roll back copyright laws to something sensible 20 years plus limited sensible extensions on request of the original author not the company

Unfortunately, the Berne convention and successors weren’t imposed on us by the US. In fact, they signed on later than we did. Copyright reform is a worthwhile and needed thing, but breaking ties with the US isn’t going to make it more likely on its own.

He added that the offer included “a historic economic and national security partnership”

    Protectionism…

aimed at co-operating on export controls,

US gets to decide what Canada exports and to whom…

    combatting transshipment,

It has Trans in the name…

    enhancing digital trade

    Enforcing US copyright on Canadians…

    and aligning select external tariffs.

Forcing Canada to erect barriers to trade with US competition.

Is US arrogance so self-consuming that they can’t see how obvious it is that only American oligarchs win here?

Good for Canada, let the US sink itself in the Iran black hole it has created. At least a Canadian/Greenland invasion seems a lot less likely now. Besides countertariffs, they should be forcing nationals to sell off any relation they may have to US bonds.
