Whereas:

Moneris Solutions Corporation is a major Canadian payment-processing platform that processes a substantial share of Canadian retail transactions

Payment-processing infrastructure, and the sensitive payment, financial, merchant, and identity-related data it handles, are essential to Canada’s economic resilience, privacy, competition, and national sovereignty

The proposed acquisition of Moneris Solutions Corporation by Francisco Partners would place essential Canadian payments infrastructure under U.S. ownership and control, creating unacceptable risks to Canadian data sovereignty, privacy, operational resilience, and economic security.
