I ask all this because my suspicion is that all the firms (and billionaires) that have a lead on LLM tech are only now interested in regulations because they want to “build a moat” around their lead. God forbid that open source models become advanced enough to be able to do 90% of the work advanced models can do on local hardware. Etc.
