I mourn the lives lost to hate. I dont just mean victims of hateful violence, but I also mourn those who lose their own life by dedicating it to hate. We only get one chance at life, and to waste it all filled with anger is a tragedy. It is a different tragedy, and my mourning feels different for the hateful from the mourning I do for the hated. But there is in fact room to mourn the end of every life as a tragedy.

Quite the opposite I celebrate Fascists being killed. I certainly don’t mourn them. You’re a very weird person if you mourn Fascists.

I mourn the life dedicated to hatred and anger. A life and attitude that never softened or turned around. It truly must have been a miserable existence, and not only was he miserable, but he turned that hatred into the worst tragedy of human history. Every person who chooses hatred could have chosen to make the world a little nicer, he physically had the capacity to make the world nicer, instead he did every atrocity he could. Yeah, I mourn that.

You are taking away the agency of the person over their life and decoupling life from the person as if it’s a different thing. As if there are souls trapped in bodies and the bodies are taking actions against the will of the soul.

The life is the person itself.

They didn’t both-sides a genocide. Their statement wasn’t that vague. They’re committed to the belief that every life lost is a tragedy.

On one hand, we have 74k Palestinians. On another hand, we have the 360 members of the IDF who helped kill them.

Obviously one of these is more tragic than the other. That doesn’t mean that 360 people throwing their lives away to hate isn’t also a tragedy of a different kind.

I have an uncle who’s throwing away his friends and family because of hate. If he were racist enough to kill an innocent person, that would be a Big tragedy and a Small tragedy. The big tragedy is obviously the undeserved death. The small tragedy is that my uncle threw his life away for something fucking pointless.

By dehumanizing the perpetrators, we distance ourselves from the fact that EVERYONE has the potential to throw their lives away for pointless hatred. In this abstract context, the only thing that separates the IDF from my uncle is circumstance.

If you can’t convince a Nazi that killing 205 jews is wrong… you should at least try to convince them that their own life is too valuable to commit it to hatred, and killing jews. If you succeed, you still save 205 jews.

Imo, saying 1k let him drop the 74k in a “more meaningful way” to the majority of people. That juxtaposition was deliberate

Sure, people died on Oct 7th, which is the subject of that anniversary/mourning day, but it’s used by the Israeli government as justification for an ongoing genocide that killed and continues to kill way more Palestinians.

Would that make it “fair,” in your mind? If he only mentioned the 800 or so civilian Israeli casualties from the October 7th attacks, instead of just mentioning the whole number without specifying that about 300 or so were IDF security forces? Or if he includes the IDF soldiers in the total then he must also mention the roughly 1,200 Palestinian fighters who were also killed? That’s what matters here?

          1. We still don’t know how many people were killed by Hamas because Israel still refuses to release the October 7 investigation. In this case attribute every single IDF kill to Hamas and all others to the Israeli government unless the opposite was proven. If Israel wants to hide facts we get to interpret them however we want.

          2. Yes dont put the IDF genocide troops in the mourning numbers???

          3. Your position is like demanding people commemorating the bombing of Dresden during Holocaust memorials because it’s unfair if they wouldn’t. (Not to compare the surgical precision the Palestinian resistance fought with did that day to the Dresden firebombings of course). Ideally Mamdani would only celebrate the resistance but since I’m such a nice guy I’ll condone him shutting up instead.

He is capable of feeling and thinking.

Feeling the need to get the NYPD to beat up and arrest people protesting genocide. Thinking that it’s good to defend Netanyahu and side with Zionists while he has that feeling.

I’m not Usian, but by what I can tell it’s Mamdami’s nontransparent decision making combined with hypocritical both-sidesing of an ongoing genocide, along with what seems like capitulation to Zionists and the police state. Along with walking back on promises to voters, with insufficient explanations as to why which ties back to the nontransparency.

Yup the NYPD is actively planning to JFK Mamdani. They need a credible patsy (far left wing individual) to pin the kill on.

They did. Then they hid the investigation and refused to release it till this day.

Israel censored everything and then blamed it all on Hamas. How very convenient for them!

And Zohran is repeating that level of propaganda.

Nothing real about fake outrage against a true ally while the facsists plot your demise in the open.

“fake outrage” - outrage for supporting zionists

“true ally” - a true ally who gets you beaten up and arrested by NYPD while supporting zionism

while the facsists plot your demise in the open.

          Who are the fascists?

Firstly, it is not true that fascism is only the fighting organisation of the bourgeoisie. Fascism is not only a military-technical category. Fascism is the bourgeoisie’s fighting organisation that relies on the active support of Social-Democracy. Social-Democracy is objectively the moderate wing of fascism. There is no ground for assuming that the fighting organisation of the bourgeoisie can achieve decisive successes in battles, or in governing the country, without the active support of Social-Democracy. There is just as little ground for thinking that Social-Democracy can achieve decisive successes in battles, or in governing the country, without the active support of the fighting organisation of the bourgeoisie. These organisations do not negate, but supplement each other. They are not antipodes, they are twins. Fascism is an informal political bloc of these two chief organisations; a bloc, which arose in the circumstances of the post-war crisis of imperialism, and which is intended for combating the proletarian revolution. The bourgeoisie cannot retain power without such a bloc. It would therefore be a mistake to think that “pacifism” signifies the liquidation of fascism. In the present situation, “pacifism” is the strengthening of fascism with its moderate, Social-Democratic wing pushed into the forefront.
